ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS 10-1, 20-1, 30-1

  • Course pathway (5 credits each)
  • Recommended: 60% in Language Arts 9

This pathway is for students whose plans may include attending university. While this course includes the six areas of reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and representing, there is an emphasis on the analysis of literature. Analytical writing and critical thinking are major components of this course pathway.

  • Course pathway (5 credits each)
  • Prerequisite: Language Arts 9

This pathway is for students who are not planning on attending university. While there is a focus on persuasive and functional writing, the course includes work in all six areas of the English Language Arts Program: reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and representing. Some programs at NAIT for instance, accept students who take English 10-2, 20-2 and 30-2.‌
